Remarks from CBS Sunday Morning

In a recent e-mail I received the following:

“Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'”

When I first read this paragraph, it really got my attention and as the old folk can say, it struck a nerve in me. The part that really through me for a loop is when the reporter ask the question “'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).” The reporter's question is what really ticked me off. It is as if she uttered this mess out her mouth before choosing her words more cautiously. If we really take a step back and look at the crimes, lying, adultery, murder, same sex dating that is going on in this world -How could God not let this happen to us. Billy Graham’s daughter gave an excellent response. It’s as if we have spat and slapped God in the face on several occasions when we do every low down thing there is to do in this world. But yet instill we want God to be there when trouble come about. Could we blame God for backing away from us after all the mess we have done? I’m Glad that my God is a forgiving God and no matter what may happen or occur he is always there and on time.
Please feel free to leave your opinion if you have one
